Brown Forman are developing a multi purpose Irish Whiskey Distillery within the grounds and original buildings associated with the historic Slane Castle. The Distillery has the capacity to produce 1.2million Litres of Pure Alcohol PA (LPA) using all 3 No. processes, Grain, Malt and Pot Still. Energy reduction and recovery has been a primary objective in the design of the Distillery.

Contract Scope:
WEW Engineering have provided full Design and Engineering Services for the complete Water and Wastewater systems, commencing with conceptual studies, preliminary design, detailed engineering, project management, procurement services, installation supervision, and commissioning support, across the full range of process, mechanical, and electrical & controls systems.

Process:
Minimised wastewater production is being processed in a state of the art Co-Products energy recovery system, using, for the first time in Ireland, an EGSB type Anaerobic Reactor, producing Biogas and sludge fertiliser. Further stages include Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) DAF Separation, and Microscreening, thus producing a very high quality wastewater discharge.
